Weekly Round Up 20th February

Another Monday, another weekly round-up.

Some words have been written on my WIP – meeting on a bus – not huge numbers but some and that’s better than none at all. I know where it’s going, but I’m not entirely sure how I’m getting there. I’ve continued to read through another story to familiarise myself with it before I decide whether to continue. Last week, I was also offered a contract for my Scottish cowboy story now called My Highland Cowboy so I have While You see a Chance on general release 1^st May with Manifold Press and My Highland Cowboy on 6^th June with Pride Publishing. It’s going to be a busy time. There will be more information about both books coming out soon.

This week, I intend to continue with WIP and reading, but I expect I’ll get edits to do at some point.

I don’t seem to have done much reading this week – probably because I’m reading my own story. I did read and enjoy The Lawrence Browne Affair by Cat Sebastian and now I’ve reading Hard Wired by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell.

On the box set front, we’ve started watching True Detective which is interesting, if a bit odd.

Lastly, I’m sure everyone will be glad to know that elder cat is completely recovered from losing her teeth and back to her usual level of loud wailing.

Weekly Round Up 13th February

Monday morning again. Just back from the vet to check elder cat’s recovery from her multi tooth extraction and, as expected, she is fine. She is certainly much less of a breath monster.

Last week was slow on the writing front and my WIP remained untouched, though I did have a few ideas. I did finish the edits for Two Highland Hearts as well as the synopsis, and press the submission button, so now it’s a question of waiting as usual. A photo has been chosen for the cover of While You see a Chance. I found a perfect one of a lone house on the coast at Ogmore-by-Sea where the story is set. This could easily be Phil Price’s house that he has renovated, the house where he, Sion, and Helen had played as children. I started a read through of Half Full, a story I put to one side a while ago, which I’m planning to extend. It’s already at 57K so this one might get to around 85K when I’ve finished Owen’s story

On the reading front, I finished The Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat. I nearly DNFed but persevered and decided the story isn’t for me. This has only happened a few times before with such a popular story. Oh well, I’m now reading The Lawrence Browne Affair by Cat Sebastian, which is much more to my taste. I’m also reading The Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch.

We watched Sense8 again. I love that show. Not sure about next box set as not my choice this time, but next time my choice will be Supernatural – spreading the word!

This week, I need to get back to WIP and reading Half Full to catch myself up and see where it’s going with Owen’s story. Although, no doubt Jonah will have some story left too. And back to watching this week’s Black Sails.

Weekly Round Up 6th February, 2017

Monday morning again and we’re already in February. It’s cold and frosty here this morning so we had to defrost the car to take elder cat to the vets. She’s having dental treatment today so hopefully her breath won’t be quite as stinky.

Last week, I spent my time doing the final edit for my Scottish Cowboy story which reached 66K. I’ve called it Two Highland Hearts, but that’s the fourth title and I’m still not sure about it. This one is quite fluffy for me, but I do like a story with humour.

Duncan McLeod owns what would be called a dude ranch if it was in America, but he lives in the Highlands of Scotland. Into his life strolls Connor Sinclair, clothes designer, originally from near Stirling, but now living in London. Connor is there to design the wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses for his sister, the local vet who is marrying Duncan’s best friend. The few days Connor is there are enough to completely rock Duncan’s world. But how can they have a future, when their lives are so far apart?

If anyone fancies having a read while I’m writing the synopsis and blurb this week, please let me know.

I’ve also read so great books this week. Sight Unseen by Susan Mac Nicol, Slade by Kade Boehme, and Watching and Wanting by Jay Northcote. Next on my list is Captive Prince by C. S. Pacat. On the TV front, I’m happy to say Black Sails is back on Netflix, and I’m still loving Legends of Tomorrow, especially now John Barrowman has a roving brief around CW programmes. Supernatural was also wonderful this week with us getting some of Castiel’s back story.

Plans for this week include getting the synopsis and blurb done, answering some questions for a blog post and, continuing my WIP about two men meeting on a bus.

PS This weekend the Six Nations rugby tournament began again. I thought I'd mention my first novel, Sporting Chance which has an MC who is an out Welsh rugby player.
